THE PERFORMER TRAINING RETREAT JULY 1-8,2012
Each year a host of international theatre creators assemble at NACL's work center to immerse themselves in a week-long intensive workshop that focuses on physical training, vocal exploration, and the creative methodologies used to develop original devised performance material. NACL draws from a continuum of techniques that includes the ensemble work of Denmark’s Odin Teatret, Canada’s Primus Theatre, and the research of Jerzy Grotowski. The NACL Performer Training Retreat focuses on rigorous physical exercises, developing the voice through song and resonator work, and cultivating paths to create Actions and compositions, which are the building blocks for character and contribute to the play’s structure and meaning.
