- January-- The Time
Cycle at Theatre of the World Festival,
San Diego State
University, Don Powell Theatre

of the World Festival, San Diego.
Singing Workshop taught by Tannis Kowalchuk,
Brooklyn Arts Exchange
NACL teaches at Rutgers University, NJ. Students work with NACL
to develop a new performance adaptation of a "Happy Days" TV episode,
presented on campus.

with DAH Teatar/Bitef Teatar; Russe, Bulgaria "Bohemian
Street Theatre Festival;" Varna, Bulgaria "International
Summer Festival;" Sibiu, Romania "Sibiu
International Theatre Festival."
- June 22-July 6, The NACL
Performer Training Retreat, held for two
week-long sessions at NACL Catskills.
- July 13-22, The Performance
Getaway Series is held at NACL Catskills,
presenting a variety of disciplines, including
Spoken Word, Modern Dance, and Singer/Songwriters.
- NACL hosts the 3rd Annual Catskill
Festival of New Theatre, August 2-11.
- July-September, Invisible
Neighborhood plays throughout New
York City and State.
2001
- February, NACL premieres a new performance
for children, The Time
Cycle at Brooklyn Arts Exchange and
in New Jersey schools.
- The Passion according
to GH enjoys a six week Spring run
at Access Theatre, New York City. Workshops
are given throughout the performance run.
- June Crazy Weekends, workshop/retreats for
actors are held at NACL Catskills.
- The Catskill Festival
of New Theatre is held July 27 to August
5. Artists from Canada, the USA, Italy, and Brazil
perform and participate in the exchange.
- NACL participates in The Network of Ensemble Theatres conference
held in Maine.
- The Time Cycle is
picked up by Young Audiences/New Jersey and Young Audiences/New
York and begins playing in public schools.
- Stilt performances in New York City including The
Halloween Day Parade, Culture Fest in Bryant Park,
Fort Greene Park, and The Williamsburg Day of the Dead.
- The Passion according
to G.H. plays at The National
Theatre School of Canada in Montreal and
at Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Centre in
New York City.
- November- December, NACL holds a six week
intensive workshop in NYC in preparation for the creation
of a new performance, Invisible
Neighborhood.
2000
- NACL hosts a free two-week Open Work Session at
Charas in the East Village. Sixteen artists were chosen
by application to participate in this intensive workshop.
- NACL hosts a cultural exchange with DahTheatre of
Yugoslavia. The event was held at La MaMa and included
a work/training exchange between the two groups, discussions,
and public performances of Dah's work, and of NACL's The
Passion according to G.H.
- The Passion according
to G.H. tours to Washington, D.C.,
and is hosted by The Brazilian-American Cultural
Institute and the Open Theatre of
Washington, DC.
- NACL assembles a group of 8 actors and begins daily
morning training and rehearsal for the troupe's new
ensemble show, Arca Nova at Washington
Square Church.
- May and June, the company moves up to NACL
Catskills to complete Arca Nova.
- NACL holds The First Ever Catskills Experimental
Theatre Festival at NACL Catskills, August 4
- 13. The festival presents troupes and artists from
across North America who practice actor training
and their own unique theatre creation techniques.
- October, Arca
Nova premieres in New York City at Washington
Square Church.
1999
- NACL collaborates with NY-based playwright and poet,
Henry Israeli and sound artist, John Sullivan on ASPHYXIA
and Other Promises which premieres at La
MaMa E.T.C. in April.
- The Passion according
to G.H. plays at Joint and Several,
an alternative festival of solo work in Toronto,
Canada.
- The company takes possession of NACL
Catskills, a church-turned- theatre and
a 13 bedroom artists' residence in the Catskill
Mountains.
- Summer months are spent on building renovations at
NACL Catskills. Various exchanges and workshops are
also facilitated with guest artists from Israel, Italy
and from across North America.
- A Gift to the River, an outdoor
spectacle is presented in Narrowsburg, NY
- NACL presents ASPHYXIA
and Other Promises at the DUMBO
Arts Festival in Brooklyn, NY.
- The Passion according
to G.H. plays at Context Studios in
NYC, accompanied by panel discussions facilitated
by NACL and invited guest presenters.
- ASPHYXIA and
Other Promises plays at The Piano
Store Theatre on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
1998
- Allison Waters joins NACL as a core member, actress
and administrator.
- The Passion according
to G.H., a solo performance featuring
NACL actress Tannis Kowalchuk premieres
at The Loon Tree Experimental Theatre Festival in
Cleveland. The performance has its New York premiere
at Nada Theatre's, House of Candles.
- NACL works with guest Canadian and American actresses
for four months on a performance, A
Canon for the Blue Moon. The show premieres
at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, NYC, in
June 1998 and goes on to tour New Jersey and Italy
at La MaMa Umbria.
