A site-specific theatre experience celebrating Sullivan County’s Bicentennial
The Lost Book of Lakewood House is a site specific theatre performance that takes place in the 1920’s American-gothic church that now houses NACL Theatre. The historic building has had many lives-- from a Franciscan church, to a hideout for squatters, to a home for wayward youth. NACL’s resident theatre company created a unique and spectacular performance experience, exploring the hidden lives and stories of Sullivan County in its heyday, including tales of gambling, cruising, moonlight boat-rides, and summer lovin’.
"When they pass out bug spray at the box office, you know this is isn’t your ordinary theater piece... From 1929 to 1969, psychics and ghosts, Henry Ford and Adolf Hitler, music, dance, shadow puppetry, acrobatics and peace symbols, temperance, gambling, anti-Semitism and religion combine with creative license in a tribute to Sullivan County’s Bicentennial."—The Catskill Chronicle
In the spirit of NACL’s summer hit, The Mystery of Lakewood House, the NACL company of actors created another fun and mysterious night of interactive and imagistic theatre enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
