SUMMER SCHEDULE 2009
The Lost Book of Lakewood House
(Part of Sullivan County’s Bicentennial Celebration)
The Lost Book of Lakewood House is a site specific theatre performance that takes place in the 1920’s American-gothic church that now houses NACL Theatre. The historic building has had many lives-- from a Franciscan church, to a hideout for squatters, to a home for wayward youth. NACL’s resident theatre company creates a unique and spectacular performance experience, exploring the hidden lives and stories of Sullivan County in its heyday, including tales of gambling, cruising, moonlight boat-rides, and summer lovin’.
In the spirit of NACL’s summer hit, The Mystery of Lakewood House, the NACL company of actors will create another fun and mysterious night of interactive and imagistic theatre to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. Featuring Tannis Kowalchuk, Glenn Hall, Sarah Dey Hirshan, Kathy Randels, John Bevan, Brett Keyser, Rosaruby Glaberman, Laura Moran, and a host of NACL collaborators. The performance is directed by Brad Krumholz and dramaturged by Mimi McGurl. Created and presented with support from the Sullivan County Bicentennial Committee. Tickets are $15 and $10 for students and seniors.
Summer Farm Dinner and Bluegrass Concert
NACL Theatre’s summer 2009 fundraising event will feature a delicious organic farm dinner followed by an exceptional evening of country and bluegrass music.
Attendees will gather on the flower-filled grounds at NACL Theatre in Highland Lake to enjoy home-cooked fresh local food grown by Willow Wisp Organic Farm in Abrahamsville, PA, followed by a benefit performance in the theatre by The Brooklyn Country Caravan featuring two outstanding bands: Dock Oscar & The Ambassadors of Love, and Alex Battles and The Whiskey Rebellion. Tickets are $15 for the meal, served at 7 PM, and $10 for the music, which begins at 8 PM. Children under 18 can enjoy the meal for $5 and the concert for $5. Like many arts organizations across New York State, NACL was hit with a 100% cut in state funding this year due to the state’s budget shortfall, making the support of individual donors more important than ever.

Self Portrait at County Fair
new work by NACL!
NACL will perform a new ensemble performance in the autumn of 2009. The performance, Self Portrait at County Fair is written by playwright Mike Geither in collaboration with the NACL ensemble. The play casts the audience and actors as visitors to a county fair where a mind-reader--is he real or faux?-- passes on messages from the spirit world to the living. The relationship between the living and the dead is explored in a variety of ways, from humorous to heartbreaking to mysterious. The relationship between the audience and actors will also be a playful one in that the NACL actors will often be performing amongst the real audience. This funny and touching performance features Tannis Kowalchuk, Ker Wells, Glenn Hall, Sarah Dey Hirshan, and directed by Brett Keyser. Tickets are $15/$10
